Saudis seize over 700 scooters

Saudi authorities have seized more than 700 scooters over the past week during raids on shops selling such machines in violation of local rules.

The raids were carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry against nearly 1,500 shops to ensure compliance with regulations allowing only sport outlets to sell scooters following a series of accidents.

Newspapers said the Ministry banned non-sport shops from selling scooters in March on the grounds it is not considered a child’s game.
