Sweeper finds abandoned infant on village street

A sweeper cleaning tiny streets in a Saudi village was shocked when he stumbled across an infant wrapped in a blanket, 'Al Youm' newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The man from Omran village phoned the police after realising the little baby girl was still alive despite the scorching summer heat, the paper said.

The newborn girl was taken to hospital, where she received first aid.

The child has been handed over to the Social Centre pending police investigation.
