Two more fires in Qatar

Even as Qatar comes to grips with the horrors of the Villaggio Mall fire that claimed the lives of 19 people – including 13 children – yesterday, reports of two other blazes are coming in from Doha.

A fire has erupted at the Qatar Aeronautical College, while authorities were called in to put out a blaze at the Fatima bint Al Mogeera School.

The Ministry of Interior in Qatar have confirmed one of the incidences on its official Twitter page, saying: “The Civil defence controlled the fire, which is limited in the administrative office of the Farima bint Al Mogeera School. No injuries have been reported among the female students.”

Meanwhile, Twitter accounts of the Aeronautical College fire also state that no one has been injured, while people are speculating that it may have been started by an air conditioner malfunction.

In the past few months, there have been several fires having been reported in the Qatari capital, including the Doha Rugby Club, City Center Mall and a school in the Wakra district.

Investigations into the cause of the Villaggio Mall fire are still ongoing.
