Video: Elderly woman scavenges for food

An apparently hungry elderly woman was caught on camera overturning a public waste bin and emptying its contents to scavenge for food.

The scene was not in an impoverished country but in Saudi Arabia, home to a quarter of the world’s oil wealth.

A YouTube film published in the Saudi daily 'Ajel' showed the woman, wearing traditional Saudi black veil and gown, filled a bag she had with food leftovers dumped in the bin.

The Saudi man who shot the film said he tried to give the woman money but she refused, according to 'Ajel', which did not say where in Saudi Arabia the film was shot.
