A Saudi driver was killed when his car plunged off a high bridge after it was banged by a patrol vehicle of the Gulf Kingdom’s feared religious police during a daring chase.
Sabq newspaper quoted eye witnesses as saying members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice caused the man’s death after they rammed their large vehicle into his car on top of the bridge in the capital Riyadh.
The paper published a YouTube film showing the patrol was chasing the man who was with his friend in a Sonata car at night. It said the other man was seriously injured after he was pulled out of the badly damaged car by passers-by.
Sabq said the Commission members were chasing the fleeing Sonata but did not mention reasons for the chase. It quoted Commission officials as saying they were investigating the incident to determine who is responsible for the man’s death.
