Women-only restaurant opens in Saudi Arabia

Saudi women can now enjoy a peaceful meal away from the harassment of the Gulf Kingdom’s feared religious police cracking down on gender-mixing with the launching of a women-only restaurant.

The restaurant is the first public dining place confined to females to be opened in the vast central province of Qaseem and is owned by businesswoman Hind Abdul Aziz, according to local newspapers.
 
"The restaurant has quickly become the talk of the town,” she said. “I have set up this project following intensive courses in such business and the society’s need for a restaurant restricted to women.”

She said she had faced obstacles in obtaining a licence for the project but added she succeeded with the help of her husband and relatives.
