A Royal Jordanian jet collided with a Delta Connection flight on Sunday at New York’s busy John F Kennedy International Airport with 203 passengers on board between the two carriers.

n the statement, the airline further stated: “Royal Jordanian flight 261 from Amman to New York had a minor incident while taxiing at JFK Airport yesterday. The aircraft’s wing collided with the tail of a plane belonging to Delta Airlines.

“The incident was minor; there were no injuries and all people on board didn’t feel its impact. All passengers on RJ A340 from Amman to New York proceeded to their final destinations.

“All aircraft are usually guided upon touch down by the control tower toward the gates where they are finally meant to park.”

RJ further stated that passengers were offered to either wait for the problem to be fixed or fly back to Amman on other airlines via US or European cities.

RJ was operating an Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, while the other aircraft Delta Connection Embraer regional jet.

The ‘fender bender’, as one passenger referred to it, occurred when the Mideast carrier was taxiing at the airport and the tip of its wing collided with the tail of Chautauqua Airlines that was operating the Delta Connection flight.

The RJ aircraft had 159 passengers on board and the Delta flight had 44 passengers.

Monica Valenti,  who was aboard the Delta plane and called it a ‘fender bender’, also tweeted: “A Royal Jordanian jet just hit our plane on the runway. JFK Airport. Thank you seatbelts.”

No passengers were injured during the incident, according to a statement issued by Royal Jordanian.
