A Saudi man has decided to sue a hospital in the Gulf Kingdom for failing to treat him after a tiny piece of his shoe penetrated his foot and caused him severe pain for more than a year, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Saleh Al Salmi said he was walking back home in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah when a nail pierced into his foot and pushed a small piece of his shoe into the flesh.

“It stayed there for more than a year and caused me excruciating pain. I have been to that hospital many times but they could not treat me. In the end, a doctor told me that I have diabetes and my foot pain is incurable,” he told ‘Sabq’ newspaper.

“I then decided to visit a local man who uses traditional herbal medicine. He opened my foot and extracted the piece of shoe in a few minutes.

“The pain has now gone. This man succeeded when all those doctors failed. I have filed a legal suit against them.”
