Saudis seize 674 birds from van hole

Saudi customs authorities seized 674 birds smuggled from nearby Bahrain inside a van at King Fahd Causeway, newspapers reported on Wednesday.

Customs men checking the pick-up found various types of birds concealed inside a hole and covered by a wooden board, they said.

The inspectors also found fans hidden inside the hole to keep the birds cool and ensure they will not suffocate, the report said.
