A senior Pakistani government official died yesterday due to cardiac arrest in Dubai while on holidays with his family.

Moeenuddin, Community Welfare Attaché at Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, suffered a fatal heart attack yesterday (Wednesday) at 2pm at a Dubai hotel while holidaying with his family.

Moeenuddin arrived Dubai 3-4 days ago with his wife and three children aged between two to six years to spend their vacations.

A high blood pressure patient, he was taking medicines and was also feeling feverish for the past few days.

Since his association with the embassy for over two years, Moeenuddin, 44, was instrumental in solving cases of a large number of illegal Pakistani workers during the amnesty period in the Kingdom in accordance with the new Saudi labour law.

Under his supervision, the embassy in Saudi Arabia issued hundreds of passes on daily basis to Pakistanis to return home before the expiry of the amnesty period. Dozens of focal points were also set up in different locations across the Kingdom to help Pakistanis correct their status in the country.

Consulate sources in Dubai told Emirates 4l7 that the body would likely be released today following the necessary government procedures and the family will be flown back along with the body today or tomorrow to Karachi.
