The Supreme Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) elections has unveiled its preliminary list of candidates, announcing the approval of 200 nomination requests by 157 men (78.5 per cent) and 43 women (21.5 per cent) from nine different constituencies.

According to Dr. Khalid Al Midfa, Head of the Media Committee for SCC Elections, the Committee held meetings on December 30th and 31st to examine the nomination requests referred to it by the committees of the nine constituencies in the emirate of Sharjah.

Al Midfa confirmed that the Supreme Committee of SCC Elections inspected each request separately to verify its conformity with all the conditions set by the law on the establishment of the SCC and the decree on the regulation of SCC polls.

He clarified that the Committee approved 200 nomination requests from nine constituencies as follows: 96 requests from Sharjah City, 12 requests from Dhaid,30 requests from Khorfakan, 23 requests from Kalba, 10 requests from Dibba Al Hisn, 6 requests from Hamriyah, 6 requests from Al Batayeh, 9 requests from Mleiha, and 8 requests from Madam.

The Head of the Media Committee for SCC Elections noted that the Committee excluded 79 requests from the nine constituencies for several reasons.

These included non-conformity to the conditions required by the law on the establishment of the SCC, the existence of a criminal record, non-issuance of a good conduct certificate due to delayed submission of request, and the submission of an invalid good conduct certificate or one that is not addressed to the Supreme Committee of SCC Elections.
