Speeding driver kills 3 camels in RAK accident

Three camels died, while the Asian couple whose car hit the animals survived with minor injuries in a road accident in Ras Al Khaimah Monday.

The 28 year old motorist, who is accused of reckless driving, and his 32-year old wife survived the accident that took place at al Hamraniyah roundabout on Airport Road, Gulf News reported.

Captain Salem Mohammad Bu Ruqaiba, head of the traffic department at Al Digdaga Police Station said that the motorist was speeding and couldn’t control his vehicle when he suddenly saw three camels on the road, killing three animals.

The couple who received minor injuries were moved to the hospital by the emergency team. The case has been referred to the concerned authorities for further action as killing a camel in a road accident carries hefty fines.

Captain Bu Ruqaiba asked motorists to adhere to speed limit and maintain enough distance to ensure safety for other road users.
