8-year-old girl's body in bag: Uncle to blame?

Colombo - A minor girl in Sri Lanka was allegedly raped, murdered and her body dumped in a gunny bag and hid under the bed by her uncle, reported ‘Lakbima’.

The suspect – a fruit seller and father of two – took the opportunity when his sister visited him. The woman had left her eight-year-old daughter at home with her grandmother in Kattankudy .

On seeing his sister come alone, he asked her for the keys of her home on the pretext of checking on the girl.

The unsuspecting sister parted with the keys. He went to her home and told the girl that her mother had sent him to fetch her.

He took the girl and later her body was found in a gunny bag, according to the report.

The suspect has been arrested and investigations continue.
