Actor stabbed to death after Dubai visit

A Sri Lankan actor, Indika Ratnayake, has been stabbed to death in a restaurant in Maharagama on Monday during the wee hours after a brawl between two factions, local media reported.

The 44-year-old father of two has acted in several tele-dramas and movies.

Police said the victim had arrived in the country two days before the incident after visiting his family in Dubai.

Four knife wounds were found on the victim's mouth and chest.

Preliminary investigation reveals, Ratnayake after entering the restaurant with two of his friends around 4.15am, got involved in an argument with a woman.

The person accompanying the woman had subsequently stabbed the actor.

A special team has been deployed by the OIC, Maharagama police to trace the suspects, who had fled the area.

Maharagama police are investigating the murder.
