Boy impregnates 14-yr-old girl class-mate

Colombo - A 15-year-old schoolboy, a student of Grade XI, has been arrested by the Siyambalanduwa police for impregnating a 14-year-old Grade X student of the same school in the Siyambalanduwa area, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The victim’s mother presented her to a doctor being suspicious of her physical condition and after a urine test found that she was pregnant.

When questioned, she told her mother, that she had been engaged as wife to her cousin from a neighbouring house.

After the woman lodged a complaint at the Siyambalanduwa police, the boy was taken into police custody and was due to be produced before Moneragala magistrate court.

The girl has been admitted for a medical check-up at the Moneragala District General Hospital while further investigations are continuing.
