Boyfriend kidnaps and rapes girlfriend, arrested

Colombo: Bulathsinhala police has arrested a man for kidnapping and raping a woman,‘Mawbima’ reported.

A resident of Wavulana Kanda, the suspect was involved in an extra-marital affair with the woman. On the day of incident, the accused called the woman to inform her that he possessed her videos and pictures with another man. He threatened her to meet him immediately at an agreed location otherwise he would share her pictures with others.

The woman told police that the suspect came in a trishaw with another man and raped her after kidnapping her to a lodge in Matugama.

The trishaw driver was released on a Rs50,000 bail while the suspect remained in the police custody.

Police is still investigating the case.

Two remanded for raping a young woman

A young man and his cousin have been arrested for kidnapping and raping a 19-year-old girl after befriending with her.

The two – aged between 26 and 28 years and resident of South Welihena in Kochchikade – kidnapped the young woman to a lodge where they raped her, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

In her police complaint, she stated that she was waiting for a bus to got to Negombo town, when the young man approached her to give her a lift in his vehicle to the town. Instead he drove her to the lodge where the two forced her to consume alcohol and then raped her.

A medical report submitted by a local hospital confirmed that the young woman was raped.

Women’s and Children’s Bureau of Negombo Police is investigating the case.
