Child killed and thrown into well by father

The Balangoda police in Sri Lanka’s Sabaragamuwa province on Monday arrested a man who threw his child into a well after suffocating him to death, the ‘Dinamina’ newspaper reported.

The four-year-old boy Kaveesha Sandaruwan was killed by his father after he returned from a pre-school class.

The police media unit said the child was dead when he was thrown to the well and initial investigations have revealed that the father was mentally unstable at the time he committed the crime, the ‘Colombo Gazette’ reported.

Acting Balangoda Magistrate A M Rafeek visited the scene and the Balangoda Base Hospital for magisterial inquiry.
