Dad arrested for harassing twins, 9

SRI LANKA: Horowpathana police have arrested a 44-year-old father for harassing and assaulting his 9-year-old twins. The little ones would be punished by the father if they did not obey his orders to massage his body after he returned home drunk, ‘Divaina’ reported.

The suspect, a resident of Elapathwewa area at Morakewa in Horowpathana, has been abandoned by his wife leaving the children, a boy and girl, in his custody.

It has been discovered that the suspect had continuously harassed both over the past three-years.

The man's sister had witnessed the harassment meted out to the children, finally complained to the police.

Police arrested the suspect on Tuesday while producing the children before the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for medical examination.

Later Horowpathana police had taken steps to produce the suspect before the Kebithgollewa Magistrate Court.
