Girlfriend's daughter raped after being drugged with sleeping pills

A woman’s lover has been arrested in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo for raping the woman’s underage daughter after drugging her with sleeping pills, the ‘Rivira’ newspaper has reported.

According to the medical reports, the 15-year-old girl is now pregnant.

Police said the woman, her paramour and the girl were trying to conceal facts during questioning.

The paramour, who was produced before the Aluthkade acting magistrate, has been remanded till September 23.

Clergyman accused of abusing boys in public toilet

A Buddhist clergyman had been sent to remand prison for abusing schoolboys in a public toilet in a bus stand in Kandy in Sri Lanka, the ‘Mirror’ reported.

Kandy Chief Magistrate A. M. A. Wasantha Kumara ordered that the monk be placed under remand custody till September 26.


The police in Kandy was informed that a clergyman was trying to molest a 13-year-old boy in a boys’ school.

Underage girl raped for several days by labourer

Police in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo have arrested a labourer for sexually abusing an underage girl, the ‘Lankadeepa’ newspaper reported.

The accused was picked up from Pettah. The 21-year labourer is from the Grandpass area while the 15-year-old girl is from Maligawatta, the newspaper said.
After becoming friendly with her, the accused allegedly took the girl to a house in the Katugastota area in Kandy, about 70km Colombo and raped her over several days, according to the police.

Police said the girl had been living in the Maligawatta housing complex with her brother and father who separated from her mother.

Monk caught with underage girl in rest house


A teenaged monk was found with an underage girl in a room in a rest house in Sri Lanka, the ‘Mirror’ newspaper reported.
The Children’s and Women Bureau of Anuradhapura, which raided the rest house, said the monk and the girl were aged 19 and 16 respectively.

The Anuradhapura magistrate has issued a notice to the rest house owner to appear before the court for harbouring a monk and the underage girl.

Police say the two had been in love for nearly a year and the monk lived in a temple in Kekirawa.
