Husband kills wife with a pole after drunken spat

Colombo: A mother-of-two, aged 36, succumbed to her injuries at Negombo hospital in Sri Lanka on Friday morning after being assaulted by her husband with a pole during an argument, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The husband returned home drunk and picked up argument with Udana Mohottige Manorukshi at their home in Jubilee Gardens, Waikkal.

Losing his cool he started attacking her with a pole. She was rushed to hospital and was being treated but succumbed to injuries soon.

The suspect fled the place after the incident.


Jail visitor lands himself behind bars

Colombo: A man in Sri Lanka who visited his uncle in police custody slapped him and ended up behind bars himself.

The 51-year-old man is in police custody at the Weligama police station for allegedly sexually abusing a 30-year-old woman.

When his nephew visited him, he suddenly pulled the elderly man by his neck and slapped him, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

Weligama police said that the 31-year-old has been arrested.

Police investigations revealed that the nephew had attacked the uncle because the suspect had sexually abused his brother’s wife.
