Karate teacher abuses 7-year-old girl student
The chairman of the Red Cross Society of the Thambuttegama division of Sri Lanka’s North Central province was remanded to police custody by the local magistrate on charges of sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl, the ‘Ceylon Today’ newspaper reported.
The Children and Women’s Bureau of the Thambuttegama police arrested the 46-year-old suspect, a father of three children.
The suspect, who lives in the Thekkawatta area in Thambuttegama, is said to be a karate exponent and works as an attendant in the Thabuttegama Base Hospital.
Police charged him for sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl in a room at the Red Cross Society office, where the victim’s parents had enrolled her for karate lessons under the suspect.
Thambuttegama Police OIC SI Upul Seneviratne said the police had received many complaints against the suspect abusing karate students. .
