Kuwaiti kills Sri Lankan ex-wife by hits on head

A Kuwaiti citizen killed his Lankan ex-wife by hitting her several times on the head in his house in the Salmiya area of Kuwait City, the ‘Daily Mirror’ has reported.

The ex-wife had been invited by the Kuwaiti to his flat for a discussion to solve their problems.

When the discussions developed into an argument, the Kuwaiti hit he victim on the head several times, causing her to become unconscious.

When the paramedics and security men rushed to the scene, after the suspect informed the operations room of the Ministry of Interior, they realised on examination that the victim had succumbed to head injuries.

Salmiya police station has arrested the suspect and detained him for investigations.

Principal, teacher held for abetting molestation of student

The principal and a female teacher of a college in Sri Lanka have been arrested and remanded till August 5 for allegedly abetting the molestation of a 16-year-old schoolgirl, ‘Ada Derana’ reported.

The suspects are attached to the Kadawala Tamil Central College in the Hatton Education Zone.

A teacher of the same school had molested the Advanced Level student on November 12, 2007 and following a complaint filed by the girl, police had arrested the suspect. The case is pending in the Nuwara Eliya High Court.

The then principal of the school Thiruwanandan Nagaraja (38) and Roger Spayan Roger (35), teacher, were arrested for attempting to cover up the incident.

A verdict in the case is to be given by Hatton Magistrate Amila Ariyasena on August 5.
