Lover arrested for raping 15-year-old

SRI LANKA: Anamaduwa Police has received a complaint recently regarding the rape of a 15-year-old girl from the Mahauswewa area in Anamaduwa by her lover, ‘Hiru Gossip’ reported.

Later, two women police constables were remanded for taking the girl from the hospital, where she was admitted for a medical test and assaulting her under the pretext of investigating the incident.

Anamaduwa Police, who are conducting investigations, has arrested a 15-year-old underage boy and after being produced before the court, he has been put under custody of the probation, while admitting the victim to the Puttalam Base Hospital.

The two WPCs, who were earlier attached to the Anamduwa Police, had taken the girl from the Puttalam hospital upon permission granted by the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) hospital to the lodge where she had been raped under the pretext of an investigation.

The victim had complained to JMO that the WPCs assaulted her and later they were transferred to the Kalpitiya Police by the Puttalam Division SSP after receiving a complaint from the JMO and has started an investigation over the matter.

Nawagaththegama Police OIC, who conducted an investigation, produced the WPCs before the Anamaduwa Magistrate on May 19 and remanded them till May 28.
