Maid dumps newborn in garbage bin

Colombo: A body of a three-day-old infant, wrapped and dumped in a Municipal Council garbage truck in Kaduwela was discovered by the municipal workers last week.

According to police sources, workers paid a close look on finding the bag heavy. To their shock they discovered a corpse of an infant, reported Ceylon Today.
 
Investigations had revealed a maid - employed by a businessman from Thalangama - had delivered the baby on June 16, and had allegedly hid the corpse in her room for about three days before disposing it off.
 
Police source said investigations are on to find out if the baby was still born or was nurdered after birth. Autopsy report is awaited, they added.
 
Meanwhile, the woman has been arrested.
 
She confessed to police that she was in relationship with a boy from Bandarawela neighbourhood, who allegedly fathered the kid.
 
Reportedly, there are about 10 domestic helps in the house that she worked at.
 
Media reports claim that she hid the baby’s body in her room for three days before wrapping it and throwing it in the garbage bin.
 
He lover is yet to be arrested.

Brothel in the guise of an Ayurvedic Centre

Colombo: A brothel that had been running covertly, on the second floor of a building on Pagoda Road, Mirihana, while overtly functioning as an Ayurvedic Medical Centre, was raided by the Mirihana Police.
 
The manager of the brothel, four prostitutes and another individual who was assisting them, have been taken into custody. 
 
The suspects are residents of Pelawatte, Kottegoda, Mudallakkeliya, Kaduwela, Haburugala and Yakkala.
 
They were to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate yesterday. Mirihana Police are conducting further investigations.
