Missing man's body found inside deep pit

SRI LANKA: Police recovered a body of a man in a 20ft deep pit, reported to be missing for five days.

Investigations revealed that his body had been dumped after being murdered, 'Lankadeepa' reported.

In a complaint filed at the police station it was mentioned that the victim did not return home after he went out to buy goods at a village store on October 26.

Five days later, his body was found in a pit dug for a well.

Post mortem reports revealed that the victim had been assaulted with a sharp object which had caused severe damage to his brain.

Two of his ribs were broken and his right hand wounded.

Police investigations had proved that the victim had been attacked with two pieces of rocks.

The Sri Lankan victim has been identified as Karawila, 59, and his wife works overseas.

The magistrate ordered the police to apprehend the suspects as this is considered a murder case.

Further investigations are being conducted.
