Colombo: A quarrel between a husband and a wife has led to the tragic death of their five-month-old daughter.
The man allegedly had pushed his wife resulting in her falling over the infant, reports Ceylon Today.
According to Lindula Police, the husband had pushed the wife in a fit of rage, causing her to fall on a nearby bed, crushing the infant to death instantaneously.
The incident had occurred on May 22 at the Lindula Fairfield Bairwell Estate.
The police, after the preliminary inquiries, learnt that the couple used to fight frequently.
The wife too had sustained injuries and had received treatment at the Lindula Hospital.
The suspect, who is in police custody will be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate.
