Mother 'sells' daughter to paramours

Colombo: A 45-year-old woman has been arrested by Piliyandala Police for selling her 15-year-old daughter to her paramour and another youth.

The two men are charged with molesting the girl and have been arrested, ‘Lankadeepa’ reported.

Police said the suspected woman had been carrying out extramarital affairs with the two youth, aged 20 and 25, while her husband was bed-ridden at home.

Two married elder sisters of the victim were living separately and she related the story to her eldest sister’s sister-in-law, who accompanied the victim to the police and lodged a complaint.

The victim told the police that she, along with her younger sister, were compelled to sleep on same bed shared by her mother and the lovers, while the victim was being molested at the same time.

The mother then collected money from the men, police said.

Piliyandala Police are investigating.

Soldier arrested for molesting underage girl

A soldier has been arrested by Galewela Police for molesting an underage girl, while promising to marry her, ‘Divaina’ reported.

The 16-year-old victim told the police that the suspect molested her when her parents were away from home and thereafter; he had took her to his home in Uva-Paranagama.

Later, the suspect had handed over the victim to her parents in Divulgaskotuwa area and since her request to marry was refused, she had filed a complaint at the police.

Galewela Police are investigating.
