Principal nabbed for raping daughter

A 72-year-old retired principal was arrested by Sri Lankan police on Friday for sexually abusing his 24-year-old daughter for several months.

The victim had earlier been molested by a school master, a hospital labourer and a youth while she was in Grade X, the ‘Mawbima’ reported.

Police said cases relating to earlier incidents were pending in court.

Though the victim had told her sister about being molested by the school master, the latter had not taken it seriously. Later, when the victim was returning home after consulting an officer at ahospital, a labourer, who had befriended her, molested her after taking her to an isolated place.

Police said the victim was employed at an industrial zone in Avissawella where a youth had molested her by luring her to go with him to a dentist.
Since March this year, police said, the victim had been frequently molested by her father and, unable to bear his harassment any more, she had lodged a complaint with Kosgama police who arrested the father.

Brothers remanded for molesting young woman

Two brother have been remanded till November 4 by Negombo Additional Magistrate on charges of molesting a 19-year-old woman in a hotel three days after befriending her through a mobile phone, the ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The suspects came in a vehicle on October 16 to Koppara Junction while the young woman was walking to a tuition class and had asked for her mobile number.

Three days later, on October 19, when she was standing at a bus halt, the suspects had taken her to a lodge and molested her, according to her police complaint.

A medical report stated that the victim had been severely molested.
