Colombo – In an incident reported from Nawalapitiya, a depressed schoolgirl, who was unsatisfied with her GCE OL exam results, committed suicide by hanging herself at her home, local media reported.
Police said the 17-year-old girl would have committed suicide over being depressed.
It was reported that the victim, had sat for the exam for a second time as she had failed Mathematics at her first attempt in 2013.
She did not pass the Mathematics exam at the second attempt as well.
Police said the victim had gone to the Nawalapitiya town to see her exam results and when she returned home she hung herself, while her family had gone out.
