Teacher molested student in moving bus in Sri Lanka

A judge in Sri Lanka has ordered a school teacher to be remanded to police custody for allegedly molesting a girl student in a moving bus, according to a report in the ‘Lanka Mirror’.

The suspect is a 36 year old father of two teaching in a school in Ampara.

The bus was travelling from Akuressa to Matara.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint to an officer attached to Matara Police Traffic Unit by the girl.

3-wheeler driver held for abusing underage girls

Police has arrested a three-wheeler driver attached to a children's home in Sri Lanka’s southern province on suspicion of abusing four under-age girls in the home.

The suspect is said to be 46 years old.

Karoake bars raided in Colombo

11 karoake bars and clubs in Colombo have been raided by the Walana anti-corruption unit, according to media reports.

Police arrested a manager and a liquor stocker of a club in Kollupitiya, whose liquor licence had expired.

The Walana anti-corruption unit said the karaoke bars and clubs were raided based on information that gangsters bearing weapons, drug pushers and prostitutes were loitering around them.
