Teen girl's hands tied with own dress, raped

Sri Lankan police has arrested a 25-year-old labourer for raping a 13-year-old girl, the ‘Lankadeepa’ has reported.

It is alleged that while she was walking with her grandmother, the suspect lured the girl to a bungalow in a nearby tea estate, where he raped her after tying her hands with a piece of her dress.

Police said her family found her with blood stained dress and she has been admitted to a hospital.

The suspect was due to be produced before magistrate court in Bandarawela magistrate court.

Meanwhile, the paper also reported that four people tried to molest an 18-year-old schoolgirl returning after a tuition class, after dragging her into nearby shrubs.

Three suspects were arrested on the same night from a hiding place in the area. After questioning them, the main suspect was arrested last Friday in Matale town.

The suspects were due to be produced before the court in Matale.

10 year-old boy hacked to death

A body of a 10-year-old boy, who was brutally murdered, has been found in an isolated house in Kapurugoda area in Panagoda, Sri Lanka.

The little boy had been hacked with sharp weapons, severing his his hands, legs and head, ‘Hiru Gossip’ reported.

Police said they discovered the body of Kavindu Devinda Kapuruge around noon last Friday inside an abandoned house near his home.
 
A knife, which police think was used in the murder, was found near his body.

The victim had stayed at home with his father as he did not attend school on the day of the incident while his mother had gone to see a doctor.

After Kavindu went missing, his father and neighbours began searching for him.

Police said they suspected a person who had been working in a quarry which belongs to a brother of victim’s father, since the suspect had been staying in that house.
