Teen rapes and kills his 70-year-old grandmom

Colombo: A 19-year-old boy is accused of raping and strangling his 70-year-old grandmother to death in Sri Lanka.

 ‘Lankadeepa’ reported Galnewa police, who arrested him on Sunday, as saying that the elderly woman’s youngest son and daughter-in-law left her alone at home when they had to attend a wedding party.

The suspect allegedly entered the house at night and raped her.

Police began investigations after being alerted of the murder on Saturday night.

Post-mortem reports confirm she was killed by strangulation.

The suspect has confessed to police that he raped his grandmother and that he had to kill her because she identified him.

Kekirawa Magistrate has ordered the suspect be kept in custody until further investigations conducted are completed by Kekirawa police.
