Thai prostitution ring busted in Sri Lanka

Colombo: A group of Thai women who ran a brothel under the guise of a massage parlour in one of the top hotels in Kollupitiya, Sri Lanka, is out on bail.

According to reports, the seven women are out on bail after paying [Sri Lankan] Rs10,000 [Dh281] and offering two sureties of Rs1million.

Lankan authorities are in touch with the Thai embassy to arrange for a  translator to question them.

Police are also investigating how the women received long-term visas and who their sponsors are. They are also tracking own the owner of the building as well as the foreigner who has taken the building on lease.

Also, investigations are on to ascertain if the immigration authorities were involved in them entering the country.
