Thief stole 55 fils, judge orders Dh1,370 bail

Colombo: A man, who robbed [Sri Lankan] Rs20, 55 fils], has been released on a  surety bail of Rs50,000 [Dh1,370]  by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya last week, ‘Gossip C Lanka’ reported.
 
The 40-year-old suspect, who robbed the money from the till of a mosque, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the security guard.
 
CCTV images showed the suspect robbing a Rs10 note and a Rs10 coin. He was seen inserting into the till a stick pasted with chewing gum that he had been munching as he entered the premises.
 
The magistrate adjourned the case to August 3.
