Three Sri Lankans were beheaded in eastern Saudi Arabia on Monday.

Earlier, they were sentenced to death by a Saudi court for murdering a Saudi national, the ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The three Lankans have been identified as Gayantha Uditha Nanayakkara, Thushara Dinesh Perera alias Christy Vedanayagam and Nilantha Bandara Tennakoon, who with four others forcibly entered the house of Saudi national Yemini Omar Yeshlam, 60, with weapons and looted his money after murdering him in 2007.

The police filed a case in Saudi Supreme Court and the five-judge bench sentenced the three Lankans to death while others were imprisoned for 10, 4 and 2 years respectively.

Although relatives and foreign ministry officials were given permission to meet the convicts, the court refused their plea to release them after paying blood money.
