Colombo: A young woman in Sri Lanka sought the help of an Indian exorcist to marry her boyfriend.

According to ‘Lankadeep’ her dad was against her relationship. She first met the exorcist at her home, when he was invited by her father to do some rituals to boost his business.

She sought his help to do rituals that would change her dad's heart so that he would accept her boyfriend. The Indian agreed to help her in return for money. He said the rituals would cost a lot as it involved gold and silver and had to be done in India.

The young woman first sent him Rs60,000 then she even pawned her mom's jewellery and sent him money on several occasions, which totalled to Rs1.1m.

After some time, when she saw no change in her dad, she demanded her money back.

But then the Indian suspect allegedly frightened her saying if she demanded her money her dad's life would be in danger. So she continued paying him.

But after a few more months, she confessed to her dad and filed a police complaint.

The Indian national has been arrested by Kollupitiya Police.

Investigations continue.
