Young woman raped by cousin, his friend

A special investigation has been launched by Na-ula police in Sri Lanka to apprehend a man supposed to be a medical officer and a cousin of 20-year-old young woman, who was impregnated after raping on several occasions by the suspects, ‘Rivira’ reported.

The victim was living with her parents at Galboda area and presuming that she was suffering with a mental disorder, the parents had left her at her uncle’s home at Udurawa area.

The young woman in her statement to the police stated that her uncle’s son took her on his motorcycle to an Ayurveda doctor, who was said to be a specialist in curing mental disorders and the two took the victim to a lodge promising her treatment, where they raped her.

After this incident, which occurred in February 2016, the victim was raped four times by the suspects at her uncle’s home, she said in a police statement.

Upon her complaint lodged last week, the Women’s Bureau of Na-ula police referred her to the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) of Matale hospital and which reported that was pregnant.

Police is searching for the culprits over the charges of abducting the victim from legal guardianship, gang raping and abetting.
