Youth tries to rape girl-friend, mother rescues her

COLOMBO: A young man was arrested by police for attempted sexual abuse after dragging the girl into a shrub when she accompanied him to the bus stop, ‘Mawbima’ reported.

The young man, aged 23-years-old from Ketahira area in Elamulla, Padiyapelella, befriended the 14-year-old girl and asked her to introduce him to her parents to discuss their relationship.

After meeting her parents, the young man spent the day at her home till the evening and requested the girlfriend to accompany him to the bus stop.

On the way to the bus stop, he attempted to drag her to a shrub to rape her but she was rescued the girl’s mother – who was following the two – but the culprit ran away from the scene.

She filed a complaint at a police station against the boy.
