An Asian illegal resident was arrested red-handed after stealing eight trucks' computer boxes, a top official said.

Brigadier Khalil Al Mansouri, Head of Dubai Police CID department told Emirates 24|7 that this person thought about stealing these boxes as he did not have any other source of income.

"On october 3rd, we received a complaint involving theft of three computer boxes from trucks parked in their company parking area in Al Aweer. Three days later, we received aonther compliant of three more computer boxes stolen from three other trucks in the same area. And a couple of days later, we received the third complaint involving theft of one computer box from a truck also in the same area."

He added that they formed a special team to investigate and solve these cases.

"We formed a team to work on this case. During investigations, we found out that 23 trucks park in that area. We put many traps. On October 13th , one of the monitoring agents saw an Asian on bycicle at 4am. He started opening a computer box of one of the trucks. It took him 3 minutes to open the box and remove the wires. When he finisher, we arrested him red handed."

During investigation, CID found that the suspect was staying in the country illegally, and he was living in an abandoned house in Dubai.

"We searched his residence, and found five computer boxes. He told us that he sold two boxes to a second hand spare parts agent in a neighbouring emirate each for Dh10,000."

He added that a new computer box from the agency cost Dh25,000.

"The wrong thing is that such an expensive machine is fixed outside the truck and it can easily be stolen within 3 minutes."

Dubai Police also sent many patrols to transport companies advising them not to leave their trucks in deserted areas.
