Two inmates die of drugs at RAK prison

Two Emirati men serving jail terms on charges of drug dealing died inside the prison in Ras Al Khaimah after taking a large amount of drugs they had smuggled into their cell.

One of them who was having medical examination at a clinic was given the drugs by an unknown person who hid the stuff inside the clinic’s toilet.

Officials said the prisoner concealed the drugs before returning to his cell, where he shared it with his mate.

“They both died after having that amount of drugs…rehabilitation programmes will not be effective unless all parties in the society cooperate,” said Brigadier Hamad Al Shamsi, director of the punitive and rehabilitation centres at the interior ministry.
