UAE's target to become world's commercial hub: Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, hailed the role of the UAE’s national carriers and declared that the country’s target is to become the world’s commercial hub.

“National airlines are leading a new stage in the global aviation sector. The UAE’s target is to connect the world together and to become the new commercial hub in the centre of the world,” he said.

In comments published by Arabic language daily ‘Al Bayan’, His Highness welcomed the new deals and said the package would turn Emirates into one of the world’s largest airlines.

“Emirates is a messenger of peace between the people of the UAE and region and the peoples of the whole world,” he said.

His Highess also praised Fly Dubai for recording steady growth in its operations.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday, November 17 attended, the Dubai Airshow 2013.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also attended the show.

The UAE air display team, Al Fursan or The Knights, performed an aerobatic stunt air display, which amazed watchers.

Among those who attended the airshow were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police and Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security, Lt General Misbah bin Rashid Al Fattan, Director of the Office of the Vice-President, a number of military and security leaders, the accompanying delegation of King of Bahrain and guests from a number of Arab and foreign countries.

On the occasion, Sheikh Mohammed hosted a banquet in honour of the guests and it was attended by King of Bahrain, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and a number of Sheikhs and officials.

Mohammed bin Rashid attends signing ceremony of Emirates and flydubai deals

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has attended the signing ceremony of a new deal for Emirates Airline for 150 Boeing 777X aircraft worth Dh280 billion, which was signed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group.

The deal was counter-signed by Jim McNerney, CEO of Boeing.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

During the ceremony, which was held today at the Dubai International Airshow, a further agreement to supply 111 aircraft to flydubai worth $11 billion was also signed.

The ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police and Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai and Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai's CEO, along with a number of senior officials from the civil aviation sector.

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated all on the signing of the two deals, expressing his confidence that Emirates Airline will be among the largest companies with this transaction. Sheikh Mohammed also commended the growing fleet of the flydubai company and its destinations across the world.
