UAE school timings cut; students to leave 1 hour early

The Ministry of Education has reduced school timing by an hour, starting May 1.

In a statement issued by the ministry, new timing will be effective to all public schools this current academic year.

Boys’ schools (for all stages) will begin at 7.15am. For the first stage, it will end at 12.50pm, instead of 1.45pm. And, for the second and secondary it will end at 1.35pm, instead of 2.35pm.

For the girls’ schools (for all stages), it will start at 8am. For the first stage, it will end at 1.35pm, instead of 2.30pm. And, for the second and secondary stage it will end at 2.20pm, instead of 3.20pm.

There will be eight daily classes in second and secondary stages schools for both boys and girls, barring Thursday, when there will be only 7 classes.

The Ministry determined the duration of each class by 40 minutes, with the exception of the first class, which will be 45-minute long (in all stages).

It allocated 5 minutes to the national anthem.
