UAE strongly condemns terrorist bomb blast in Beirut

Lebanese security forces inspect the scene of a huge car bomb explosion that rocked central Beirut on December 27, 2013, killing Mohamed Chatah (Shatah), former finance minister and adviser to Lebanese ex-premier Saad Hariri, along with at least four others, according to initial reports from the Lebanese capital. Beirut has been hit by several deadly attacks over the past months, including twin suicide bombings in November that targeted the Iranian embassy and bombings in the bastion of the Shiite movement Hezbollah in the south of the capital over the summer. The UAE on Friday strongly and unequivocally condemned the terrorist car bomb explosion in Lebanese capital Beirut, which killed and wounded scores of people.

''The UAE condemns this terrorist act which targeted unity and stability of Lebanon and contravenes human values,'' a foreign ministry statement affirmed, calling on the Lebanese political leaders to deny the chance to those who want to tamper with Lebanon's security and stability and protect it from the consequences of this criminal act which aims to plunge Lebanon into vicious circles of chaos and violence.

The ministry while expressing heart-felt condolences to families of victims and Lebanese people, reiterated the UAE's firm stance which rejects terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
