A leak in a pipe had caused waterlogging on Beach Road in Jumeirah on Monday, with Dubai Police warning residents to avoid the immediate vicinity near the Burj Al Arab hotel.

The incident was reported around 10am, with Dubai Police taking to its official social media account shortly after to tweet: “Water on Jumeirah Beach Road, after Burj Al Arab, adjacent to Souk Madinat Jumeirah, in direction of Al Sufouh Road due to a water pipe leakage.”

According to a statement from Dewa, the burst pipe was immediately fixed. The authority stated: "A 300 mm water pipeline was damaged in Umm Suqeim Third due to a third party involvement (a contractor).

"The Dewa Maintenance Team took immediate action to repair the breakage and restore the service with no interruption to customers."

The authority further stated it has "strategy and resources in place to ensure and secure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and water”.
