Weather update: Temperatures to dip

LATEST: Unstable weather to continue today, reports NCMS.

The cloud cover is forecast to increase over some areas resulting in scattered rains, especially in internal and southeastern areas and some northern areas.

There will be fall in temperatures, as well, added the weather bureau.

The minimum temperatures in mountain areas is expected to hover between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius, while in internal areas between 18 and 22 degree Celsius.

Maximum temperatures will be only about 35 degree Celsius.

 

EARLIER REPORTS: Rain in Dubai, warning over strong winds

Heavy rain reported in Al Quoa.

Dubai commuters have reported of rain on Sheikh Zayed Road and drivers are urged to drive carefully.

Weather department has also reported, "Light to moderate rain over scattered areas of Al Ain and light rain over Dubai."

Low visibility

The weatherman has warned against strong winds, and low visibility, emphasizing that the unstable weather conditions that set in on Wednesday will continue till Saturday.
 
In a tweet on Friday at 6am, "NCMS warns against towering/rainy clouds associated with fresh to strong winds at times causing blowing dust/sand and low visibility."
 
At 5.30am, NCMS' twitter handle wrote, "thunder- rain over Abu Dhabi, Al Bateen, Sila and some areas south of Al Ain".
 
They recorded "moderate rain over Al Dafra, Kalifa, Muhammad Bin Zayed City,  Al Yahar, Al Maqam and Al Dhahir areas and light rain over Al Saadiyat island" on Thursday night.
 
Their weather forecast for the weekend states, “As a result of the deepening of low pressure in the upper levels and its moving to east during Friday and Saturday, the weather will be relatively unstable.”
 
It will be cloudy, and “scattered rain (of varied intensities),” will be recorded “toward east, including the eastern mounts, Al Ain, parts of Northern Emirates, and some areas of Abu Dhabi”.
 
The report added, “Moderate to fresh winds, reaching 55km/hr with cloud activity, and causing blowing dust/sand with poor visibility at times over the exposed areas”.
 
A drop in temperatures on Saturday is also forecasted, with “sea (being) rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman sea”.
