Woman harasses homeowner after canceling deal

An Ohio woman was convicted of harassment over a feud that developed after she and her husband backed out of a deal for a $1.2 million house when they found out a neighbor had been convicted of attempted murder.

The Hamilton County jury agreed with prosecutors Tuesday that Jacqueline "Crysta" Pleatman harassed homeowner Grant Troja. Jurors didn't reach a verdict on a second count.

The charges had their roots two years ago, after Pleatman and her husband canceled the home purchase in the upscale Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill. Their decision led to civil litigation over alleged breach of contract and other issues, which is still pending.

Troja told police Pleatman was harassing him with emails and text messages, including sending one email to his employer, court documents show.

Pleatman's attorney, Clyde Bennett II, expressed disappointment with the verdict and said an appeal is possible.

Sentencing that could result in jail time for the 45-year-old woman is scheduled for Nov. 17. She also still faces two other charges related to the case of obstructing official business and criminal damaging.
