A 26-year-old nursing lecturer thinks it is fate that has brought her into a situation where she can donate a portion of her liver to a 52-year-old stranger.

The man who requires liver transplant urgently used to hold down two jobs in order to run his family, comprising his wife and two children. He used to work at a vegetarian food stall as a cook and also work part-time as cabbie, reports Asia One.

Regina Lee received a forwarded message on Whatsapp group chat about the ailing Ang Yong Hong and the appeal for help from anyone with the blood type B or O.

Lee wanted to help the man regain his health and being from blood group B only helped her make up her mind.

"It must be fate," the nursing lecturer told the news website.

Lee is no stranger to pain and death, being a part of the medical profession.

Her mother is also a bone cancer survivor and she is thankful that her mother has not relapsed.

Lee will be undergoing a battery of tests to ensure that she is a matching donor and her organ will be accepted by Ang Yong Hong's body.

The family is still looking out for more donors in case Lee's liver does not match perfectly.
