For years Yang Jianbin has been carrying a heavy burden (not on his shoulder) on his leg.

The 37-year-old, from Shanxi Province, China, has finally been operated upon and the world's largest tumour has been removed from his leg.

Yang has been suffering from Neurofibromatosis which is a genetic disorder that affects the normal growth of cell tissue.

The Metro reported that Yang was born with a birthmark on his lower back which grew over the years to a whopping 110kg.

With so much extra weight Yang could only lie down or sit in bed all day.

At the age of 12 he had his first operation and the tumour had grown to the size of a fist.

Chief surgeon Chen Minliang said that the team has seen Neurofibromatosis patients before, but this is the biggest nerve tumour they have ever witnessed.

Yang's operation lasted for 16 hours and he was given two hospital beds to accommodate his body.

He was given 5,000ml of blood, which is more than the entire amount an adult’s body holds.
