An explosion went off in a cafe Tuesday in the Russian spa town of Pyatigorsk in the foothills of the Caucasus mountains, causing casualties, Russian news agencies reported.
The explosion happened around 1230 GMT, the reports said. Glass windows within a radius of 200 metres around the cafe were broken and cars parked by the cafe were damaged by the power of the blast.
Initial reports of casualties were contradictory: the RIA Novosti news agency said 15 people had been wounded while ITAR-TASS said that there were fatalities.
Itar-Tass also said that the blast was caused by explosives placed in a car and over 10 people had been hospitalised.
