Bomb hoax delays Dubai-bound plane

A phone call that a bomb was planted in the plane delayed an Air India Dubai-bound flight carrying 73 passengers and 6-member crew at Sanganer Airport in the state of Rajasthan here, a senior police official said.

The (Mumbai-Jaipur-Delhi- Dubai) flight IC895, which came from Mumbai at around 1630 hours on Saturday, was checked thoroughly after all passengers were evacuated by the airport authority and Rajasthan police, inspector general of police B L Soni told the Times of India.

The baggage of all passengers was searched and passed through x-ray machines, the IG said, adding sniffer dogs and bomb squad personnel were pressed into service but no explosive material was found inside the aircraft.

After intense search, the flight was allowed to take off for Delhi with passengers at around 1730 hrs, about 30 minutes late, the IGP said.

Air India's call centre in Delhi had received a call from an unidentified caller, after which the Rajasthan police and Airport authority here were alerted, the IGP said.
